COMPUTER CRASHED

I received an e-mail from a guy whose name I did not recognize. He was writing to ask me if I would like to blog with him. I kind of thought that the name was somebody from our church. So, I clicked on his name on the e-mail to read his profile and UH OH! 843 posts FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY appeared on my blog---I guess it was a blog takeover. I'm not sure. It was called ONE WORLD and his blog was added to mine. It was full of pornography. Instantly weird pop-up's started flooding everywhere I went on my computer. It took a few hours to get his ONE WORLD blog off of my blog but the damage was done. By the end of that night, my computer crashed. My children tell me (!) not to open up any file from anyone that you don't know. And I usually don't....but this was innocent for I thought it was a church member blogging with me. Oh dear....we are looking for someone in our city to take a look at our computer to see if anything can be salvaged----years and years of word documents and files that can't be replaced. LESSON LEARNED: I won't open anything again from anyone I do not absolutely know.

oh... I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you can salvage stuff and get everything back to normal.

That stinks... I get those emails all the time that tell you not to open an email unless you know the person, and normally I delete them, but you just never think that it would happen to you.. Sorry, I know that must be a pain to have all your documents and other things lost...Hope you can retrieve your stuff :)

PS. Are you getting a little sad that the Esther study is almost finished?

:( That is sad. I hope you can salvage somethings!!

Girl I am the same way. I always think, "hmmm... maybe..." but then my dads little voice pops in my head warning me NOT to open anything that even looks suspicious. My daddy is a computer "geek", who is incredibly blessed with the gift of computer geniousness. He is much more computer-savy than I will ever be, so I always heed the warning. However through the years he's also taught me a thing or two about spy-ware as he re-pairs my computer yet again. There is so much to learn about the dangers of the internet. It's sad that people are out there who want nothing more out of life than to take advantage of someone nice and kind like you. (I almost typed "king", that would work too since you are filled with Jesus!) They need to be shown the love of Christ and then they'd realize that there is so much more out there for them! I'll be praying for you and the computer. Love you Siesta!

OH NO!!!
That is terrible.
I know that I receive e-mails from people I do not know and I have been tempted to open them. I will not do that now!!
If someone knows me they can call me :)
Love ya,
Kim

Oh Bev! I am so sorry. We have all re-learned this lesson through your tragedy and that stinks doesn't it?! I promise, I WILL NOT open an email when I do not know the person.

Good luck. I'm sad with you.
Love ya,
Fran

So sorry that happened to you!

How cool that you are doing THE Esther study with Beth Moore!

Two of my other blog friends Debra and Xandra are doing it as well. Do you know them?

*Delurking to try and help*
I don't provide direct links here as I don't want anyone to think I am a spammer.

Unfortunately this happens alot. I have recently cleaned up several computers for friends. My godsend website for help is www.geekstogo.com. At the very top of the page click "forums" then on the next page- don't scroll but look near the bottom of your screen and you will see where it says "Read this before posting a hijackthis log" click on that and follow the directions exactly.
It's free to register and after you complete the list of things to do you can post on the forum and ask for help to make sure you are clean.

Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Hi, Bev! It was so nice meeting you! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving me the sweetest comments ever! It is so nice to meet new sisters in Christ! I enjoyed reading your profile and I will definitely be back to read more of your posts! I know I will like you just by your favorite music and books! I remember when I had never heard Christian music and now I know almost all of the groups you mentioned... same goes for the books!

Have a nice day and I'll stop by often!
Love,
Angie xoxo
p.s. So sorry to hear about your mess with your computer!

I have another blog where I blog daily as a small group of us read through the New Testament this year. It's called A String of Pearls. We carry each other on mats (when we just can't walk anymore) to Jesus and sweet things like that.
