A Saved Mess

The radiation oncologist sent a letter last week. After reveiwing my scans and comparing them to the scans from MDAnderson, he changed his January prognosis from suspicious mass to benign mass.  Hmmm. That was the 4th opinion on this scan.  If I put my confidence in a good report or things turning for the better, then I'm missing God.  Isaiah 30:15 - In Quietness and Confidence our Strength is in the LORD, not the solution to our problems.  A quote in 66 Love Letters puts it this way:  "The issue is worship and intimacy with Me, not health or wealth or personal comfort."  They were supposed to do more diagnostic scans but my case has slipped through the cracks as I've lost my oncologists due to current financial trends.  Humana dropped Texas Oncology for the entire state of Texas.

We're back again in Corpus Christi this weekend to play the only team that beat us this season---and it was only by 3 points.  If we win out, we win District.  That would be cool for Britt. He's wrapping up his senior year.  This mom is wrapping up memories of a lifetime as we'll say goodbye to our boy in just a few short months.  I keep wanting to incessantly inundate him with everything he needs to hear before he leaves.  Poor kid!

There's another quote in 66 Love Letters that has so gripped me this day.  "You want me to be holy in any situation more than You want me to figure out what to do to improve my situation."   I spent way too much time yesterday trying to improve a situation I am in.  Improve my friends. Improve my family.  I need to deal with my own stuff!  Isn't it amazing that in all of our MESS, HE delights in us.  He's enthralled with us (Psalm 45:11) and longs to make Himself known (Isaiah 30:18) and make us holy!  I need Him so!  What a saved mess I am!

You are one of the best saved messes I've ever known. How your life has blessed me and we've never met face to face, but we have met heart to heart. Wonderful thought is it not? you have done that with so many. Loved the last quote you gave of Larry Crabb's..that book really makes you stop and think. My husband has a cousin who is a dentist in Corpus Christi. Praying that Britt's team will play to the best of thier ability. blessings on your week end. safe travel. Love, Mary Lou

Glad to be a "saved mess" right along with you! Good news and I pray it stays a benign mass or goes completely away.

I relate with having our youngest a senior as well! I've already got him scheduled to have his wisdom teeth out in July before college!

This past Sunday one of our pastors gave this sermon on Luke 12:22-34 -- it encouraged me greatly and I hope it will encourage you. link is

Bev, You never cease to amaze me as I observe your love for Christ and family from my computer. I pray good health and strength for all as you head to Corpus this weekend and on to graduation day in May.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

From one saved mess to another....aren't you glad we are on the team that will spend eternity sitting at the feet of the one who loves unconditionally?
I am so glad we are His.
We have had experience with Humana...:O! You may have slipped through their hands...but you are still held snug in His.
I am so glad that we can both rest in the fact that He has things all figured out. It has taken me so long to learn to rest in that. And honestly I sometimes still wonder if when we turn the next corner those strivings will rise to the surface again.
But what I have learned....and I know....He is so faithful!
And that is something I can cling to when all else is shaking.
Thank heavens things are not shaking at the moment. :)
Thank you for your testimony encourages my heart so. God has planted so many rich things in your life during this period....what glory you bring to His name.
Love you girl

This is my first visit to your blog, but I'll certainly be back. Thank you for stopping by over at The Point and leaving that precious comment about my Daddy's Bible.

Girlfriend, you find those Bibles and give them to your babies. What treasures they are!!

I love the quote on holiness from 66 Love Letters. Can I use it? I'm currently writing a Bible study that looks at the legacy that we, as Christian women, are leaving for the generations that come behind. One of the weeks of study is on our holiness and I'd love to use that quote somewhere in the study.

I will be praying for you as you walk this road with your health. It is a difficult road--ups and downs, joy and tears, good news and not so good news. Your name is going on my prayer list TODAY.

God bless you.

Bev, your beautiful mother's heart for your children is so dear to me. I agree with Leah--get those Bibles out and give them to your kids. They will treasure them. Never too late, like we talked about this week, to say "I made a lot of mistakes, but I sure love you now."

Hope Britt's game goes well, and I want to talk with you about that letter--how do you feel about it? Praying before I hit send...Love you,A

I don't care what you say... I would give ANYTHING to have a mom like you! I've made too many mistakes in my parenting skills, but I know for sure that my kids love me and I know yours do too! Give them the Bibles!!! I love you, Bev! So much!
