13 - "Sun, Rise on My Sin-Struck Soul" Genesis 31-33
Calmness Will Lay Great Offenses to Rest - Eccl 10:4 ESV
And the sun rose on Jacob's soul in a new place for Him. Genesis 32:31. Wrestle Well, dear Jacob. And you will see the Face of God, Peniel. Jacob goes through 14 years of hard labor while his brother succeeds as a royal officer of a large band of men. Jacob held in his heart, hopes for reconciliation with Esau, all those days spent in torrid thought under the beat of the piping hot rising suns. When free of his service to Laban, Jacob initiates, broaches, engages in a humble fearful attempt to approach his blood brother with whom he shared the same lifeline. Jacob no longer insists upon the birthright. "Yielding pacifies great offenses [Eccl 10:4]." [Matthew Henry]. Esau's reply: I'll meet you with my 400 angry men. Jacob's reply: Humility. Fear. Distress. Jacob turned his face to the One Who could be His Strong Tower.
Reference the whole story of your messes to God.
Rest all your hopes in Him Alone.
Reconcile to those who are so angry with you.
Remember, it truly is the Spirit of God that helps us with our infirmities.
Oh, Strong Tower, intercede with groans that words cannot express just like this Jacob story. We can scarecely utter a word before a holy God. He groans for us. And rise, Dear Sun, on our sin-struck soul. May you all feel the sun on your story Today. I love you more than you will ever know.
