Bloggy Beth Moore Giveaway

Beth Moore spoke at Life Outreach International with James Robison and I sat in the audience and just wept over her "review" of her book Voices of the the Faithful. My daughter is a missionary over in Thailand and what they shared touched deep places in my heart. I'll have to post about it sometime.

This post is about a bloggy giveaway. One year's worth of amazing stories of ordinary people who have found the courage to trust wildly a God that is inviting us all to come back home. Before they call to HIM, He answers and while they are still speaking, HE hears them Isaiah 65:24.

Leave a comment about what you think about "reading books" and what words mean to you. I'll choose a random winner this Saturday at 9a.m. (out of a hat). One winner will receive Beth's hardback devotional books, Voices of the Faithful and the other winner will receive The Beloved Disciple. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Hi Bev,
I'm not sure why I love books I just do. They make things come alive. They are excitment and peace at the same time. Books about Gods word and work make Him come alive. They make me feel closer to Him because I see Him more clearly I get to know Him. Fun time reading books let you paint a picture in your mind of the characters and you can put yourself in the setting. I'll stop now I probably should have stopped with the "I just do!" :)

Love love love to read books. Always have. They take me away to another place. I get completely immersed.

Ah, reading....one of my most favorite things to do. Reading takes us to places we've never been in our hearts and in our minds. Reading gives us insight into the heart of God and of others. Reading uplifting books and writings that point us to God are always a blessing. I am afraid that I love words too much. I have to say "all" that is on my heart or in my head to make sure that I tell you everything I want to tell you. That doesn't mean that I always speak carelessly. I do hold back the greater majority of words that would hurt or offend, especially my adult children. I think alot of words that do not pass my lips. Words do reveal our hearts and we are so unaware of that the greater majority of the time. Blessings on your day and week. Keep us posted.

CanCan 7/28/2008

I love books and I love Beth Moore. I would love to be in touch with your daughter...I work in Laos (but I have a US mailing address at my mom's should I win this contest).

Have her email me at onlycancan at hotmail dot com

Words are so important. They can hurt or heal; writing and words consume my thoughts!

I was given the love of reading from my mother--one of the best gifts she ever gave me!
Beth Moore? Now you're talkin'!

I love books, but I don't think I"ve ever read one by Beth Moore, even though I've heard a lot about her. I'd love to change that.

Jenni 7/28/2008

Love books. They take me places I could never go otherwise! I do love Beth Moore's writing and ministry, too...and I don't have either book! Thank you for the chance to win!

Unknown 7/28/2008

Depending on the book, it will either relax me and allow me to be in another place (fictional type), or educate me and make me feel like I'm getting smarter (some days it's a good thing since I feel like my 4 boys are killing every brain cell I have! LOL)

A well-spoken word gives life to the ordinary, emotion to the flat, and articulates our own humanity. One of my favorite names of Christ is The Word. He is the ultimate and only Word, of which you, Bev reflect so beautifully. Love you, Annette

Jodi 7/28/2008

I just love books, it is my relaxing time, or depending on what i am reading, it is included in my worship time. I have just started listening to audio books in the car, and that has been a wonderful experience also.

Anonymous 7/28/2008

i get "chill-bumps" (1) when i read with my eyes and heart something like Annette's post...it is the difference between true and truth..."th"=the heart....i fall in love with writing that speaks to my heart...speaking in Spirit and Truth...and it is not necessarily religious writing....you can always hear the heart with the heart...
(1) a frequently used term by Beth Moore meaning exactly that!

Anonymous 7/28/2008

I LOVE words, period! Reading is magical! I am a book-a-holic!

Reading words, writing words, speaking words! It's just heavenly!

Talking about books......another favorite!

I dream of having a "real" library in my home....instead of books stacked everywhere because all the bookshelves are full and boxes of them packed up in storage.

frugallm 7/28/2008

I have always been a reader. Books take me places I will probably never get to go.

We are definitely a reading family. I have always loved books, worked in our school library from Grade 7 until I finished high school, went on to become a teacher and school librarian, and now I homeschool my children and we have built up our own home library. I have tried to raise my children to enjoy books of all kinds, not just fiction, and I encourage them to read biographies, historical fiction, and classics of all kinds. I can't imagine a better opportunity for learning, aside from actually being able to meet people directly or participate in a hands-on way.

Thanks so much for your giveaway.

Reading to me is how we learn -- why else would God have put His Words in Print? I love to read both fiction and non-fiction. I have been blessed by so many Christian Authors over the years -- I am finding new books all the time whose words help strengthen and encourage me.

That's awesome that your daughter is a missionary. I did a year and a half of mission work in Mexico a few years ago with the IMB. It was a learning experience to say the least! I love to read books that touch my heart and help me grow. I think that God can use an author's words to reach us where we are. Beth Moore is pretty cool! I enjoy listening to her and used to attend her Bible studies in Houston!

Reading is practically my life, I read books, I read blogs, I work in a library, I would rather read than watch television.

I have often been so engrossed in a book that, on putting it down for a break and coming back to it later, I have wondered if I have watched a film or read a book!!

Alaina 7/28/2008

I love to read and was raised in a home that valued the written word! My husband and I have a weakness for books and we enjoy reading to our kids!

Reading is very important to our family. It is amazing how my son's vocabulary has developed just because we read so many books to him. He loves books that would be typically thought of as beyond his age level and enjoys fiction and non-fiction. I am so thankful that he seems to have developed a love of reading and I hope it carries him a long way to exploring all types of literature.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Books are a very important part of my life. When I was a little girl, it was such a treat to visit the library! I would come home with a pile of books every week. I would love to add either of these to our personal library and share with family! :)

Fedora 7/28/2008

Reading books is such an important part of our daily lives--my husband and I enjoy reading, and we read to our children, and they're learning to read themselves now, too. We've enjoyed all kinds of books that contain all kinds of words, and are hoping our children learn to love them, especially the most important one, the one full of God's words.

Blessings to you and your family!

Peculiar 7/28/2008

What do I think about reading books? Hmmm, I can't see an interesting or colorful life without reading books. I can't see modern advancement without reading books. I can't see learning and growing without reading books. I can't see fostering a child's imagination without reading books.

Spoken or written (or sign) words are the way we communicate, whether that's something good or bad. Words are needful and beautiful. Words, in any form, means communication of something. Words take us places. Life would be hard to live without the expression of words some kind of way.

I guess I'm saying words change lives. I'd like the chance to win your wonderful giveaways. Thanks.

My Mother loved to read. I love to read. My daughter loves to read. Her daughter loves to read. What more can I say? That's four generations of readers! Thanks for the contest!

Jinxy and Me 7/28/2008

I love reading. I read every night before I go to bed. I got that habit from my Mom who reads several books each week.

Joy 7/28/2008

Reading is a priority to me because it helps me expand my knowledge and understanding about those around me, and about myself.

I read every single day. I read billboards, bulletins, pamphlets, magazines---anything that is lying around with printed words on it, I will pick it up and read it. People make fun of me for it, but it's my passion.

Because of reading I have become a writer. Hopefully I'll be published soon and people like you can be touched and giveaway my books in the future!

grammy 7/28/2008

I just have to read. If I am waiting in the car alone, I search the glove box for anything to read. I love Beth. My daughter is also a missionary.

Shonda 7/28/2008

I like to learn. I'm at a point in my life that I dont want to learn all the lessons the hard way. If I can learn from others experiences, I'd prefer that to the University of hard knocks. That's why I like reading!!

Our ladies at my church meet and do studies on Beth Moores books. I have dug deeper for these studies than I ever have before. She can take one word and just teach on it. I am 66 and have loved to read from as far back as I can remember when I was a little girl. I don't go anywhere without a book in my purse. I read everytime I sit down. Words make things come ALIVE!
Thank you for the giveaway.

Anonymous 7/28/2008

So cool Bev...I saw you I believe while watching Beth teach on What to do when you don't know what to do...the first session...tell me that was you?!

I love reading books...I love reading many books at a time...I love the prospect of what the pages may contain...the places I may travel..the truths I may learn.

I am also a lover of words...that is probably my great passion...stringing words together but also looking at words and what they mean and what is the deeper and spiritual meanings as well...even in simple words....I could go on and on...

Alyce 7/28/2008

I love reading books. To me the written word is so powerful. It has the power to take you to different worlds, the power to enlighten, or obscure. Words can lift you up or drag you down. I read to learn, for entertainment, and sometimes for catharsis.

Reading books means freedom to me. When I was a kid, there was never much of anything, but there was always a book to escape into. In books I found worlds that held luxury and splendor, worlds that took me away from the ickyness that infected my childhood.

I've always taught my own children that reading is like breathing. Absolutely necessary and if you're lucky you'll find a breath of pure fresh air.

Anonymous 7/30/2008

Gosh, I read books for lots of reasons. I'm motivated by curiosity, education, pleasure, a friend's referral, a catchy title, subject matter, reading groups, books to read to my children, and other conscious and unconscious factors. Words allow folks to communicate; and, can be very powerful. I've found that different languages have words that provide a way to communicate certain thoughts and/or feelings that another language might lack expression for.

Reading books is an instant vacation for me, a break from my everyday headaches. My 13 yr. old daughter LOVES books too. And ebooks are not the same as holding a real book in your hands with crispy pages to turn.

I love reading. It takes me to places I can only dream of going to.

I love to read books that will help me grow spiritually, then I pass them on to minister to someone else. I enjoy all the Beth Moore books & studies I have taken. I also really enjoy James Robinson as well. I would be so blessed even more than I am now if I could win any of your books.

Books are meaningful to me because they allow me to take my mind places it could never go, it expands my vocabulary and understanding of the world, and it helps me to be a better person.

I love reading. It opens up so many different worlds that I would never get to experience otherwise.

Reading books is expanding your mind, visiting places and people you'd never get to meet, learning and growing and just enjoyment exponential.

I think reading books are important for learning. Words can be very powerful and must be used carefully.

I love to immerse myself in a good, sometimes to escape a little and take a mini vacation and sometimes the exact opposite - to be more self aware and find out who I am. Beth Moore is a wonderful combination of the two I always learn more about myself and my relationship with the Lord when I read her books or participate in the classesoffered based on her work, but yet it's also a great escape from the preary routine of my everyday life.

Thanks for a chance to win!

I heard Beth Moore was awesome.

I still have my very first book "The Pokey Little Puppy." I still love to read it :-) So what that I am 46?

Reading books allows me to visit places I might never see, as well as meeting different and exciting people and times. Without this escape I would go utterly insane! Thank you for the contest!

Spirituality has come to us especially strong as we mourn the death of my brother. His voice with a Bon Jovi style background came to my Mother in a dream to say, "Someday I will be forgotten as the river turns to red." An angelic chorus sings, "We will meet again; I will see you then". A surround sound chorus is filled with trillions (TNTC) of voices.

I have another blog where I blog daily as a small group of us read through the New Testament this year. It's called A String of Pearls. We carry each other on mats (when we just can't walk anymore) to Jesus and sweet things like that.
