We are so very grateful to those of you who have been touched by this orphan story and responded to Britt's request. We didn't think that the responses would predominantly come from blogging, but it has. Out of 123 responses, we have only personally met seven of those who have given. With the exception of one or two, my blogging friends have all come from the LPM blog. It is a community of people who care deeply about living in the present and advancing His Kingdom. A thousand thanks for $1,230 for 123 precious orphans. (Trying to post a story but I can't get through so maybe this comment will make it on tonight!) Britt is at Homecoming (yes, our school is a little late in the season. He will be so EXCITED to hear the news for it just happened a few minutes ago.

Hi, this is Britt writing to you. I am Bev's 16-year-old son. I have an idea. I am looking for 123 people to help me do a Christmas service project for an orphanage where my sister volunteers in Thailand. So, I'm asking my friends (I'm the tall one in the picture) and I'm asking my mom's friends if you would like to be a part. Here's what we are doing.

My sister is a missionary in Chiang-Mai, Thailand. She teaches Special Ed at a missionary school there and she is involved in helping out at an orphanage called House of Blessing Tribal Children's Home. Most of the orphans are from the hill tribes of Thailand. About 20 are adopted each year. They are in a wonderful place at this orphanage that tells them about Jesus. Brooke is coming home for Christmas with an empty suitcase. I want to send back with her some fun stuff to the 123 orphans that she loves.

House of Blessing

Tribal Children's Home
I am looking for 123 people who would like to donate $10 per child. My sister and I will use your money to buy them a t-shirt, underwear, a toy, and a craft for them to do. All of the money you donate, will go directly to the orphan, not to anything else. We want you to pray for that orphan during the month of December. The orphans love real photos of real people. We want to send them a photo of you and your family if you give us permission to copy one off of your blog. And, if your kids want to color a picture for them and say "hello" that would be awesome. E-mail pictures by attachment to my mom's e-mail http://www.sixbrandons@sbcglobal.net/. My friend Levi and I are making crafts for each orphan.

Thank you for thinking about doing this. You can send the $10 per child to my sister by December 31st
Brooke Brandon
8112 Rush Street
Fort Worth, TX 76116

OR you can send us the money by PayPal (Beverly Brandon's PayPal Account. Just go to http://www.paypal.com/ and type in her e-mail address: sixbrandons@sbcglobal.net) and send the money online. Tell me the approximate age of the orphan you want to bless and pray for, and if you want a male or female. I'll try to match you up as close as possible and send you the NAME and PHOTO of the orphan so you can pray for them. Thank you so much.

I don't know if I can find 123 people to do this, but I am going to try. So, if you have a friend or two you think might want to be a part, send them to this post. Thank you so much! Britt

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, this is the Mom writing now...it's Bev...
this morning I was going over Britt's memory verses with him. He is memorizing the 12th chapter of Romans for his Bible class and the verses he needed to know this morning were:
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12: 10,11. Well, here's a life lesson in doing just that. I love it that my children are so ready to help other people and that their teenage world is bigger than just themselves.
You may not be able to help out at this time but thanks for stopping by. You can whisper a prayer as you reflect on this. God is always listening to you.
We will keep this opportunity open the whole month of December. Most of these children have come from villages of no running water, no electricity---hill tribes. They are treated well here at the House of Blessing. If Britt raises more than $10 per child, then the rest of the money raised will go to meet the needs of this orphanage. Brooke travels back to Thailand January 6th. We'll post pictures of the giving of your gifts to these orphans.
So if you want to be a part,
LEAVE A COMMENT HERE ON THIS POST:
Tell Britt if you will send the money by mail or PayPal.
Do you want to bless and pray for a boy or girl. What age?
Visit back to THIS POST to see the name of your orphan.
We will e-mail you a photo of your orphan so you can pray for them.
Brooke's friend Heather is longing to adopt again and Brooke commented this week on Heather's blog that these orphans "can remember watching their friends' adoptions as they waited for parents to pick them. Many other sweet kids here just dream of being loved by a family." We know this is a very small way to express God's love. But, God is in this zeal to love, & you just never know what He might do! He takes care of His orphans.
Again, what we really need from you is 4 p's:
payment by mail or PayPal
pick age/sex of orphan
pray for that orphan during December
permission to copy a photo off of your blog
Bev,
I will do this... it doesn't matter if the child is a boy or girl.. you can pick for me. Can you give me your paypal info? I will send the money this Friday via paypal. Also feel free to copy any picture from my bloggy.
You have wonderful kids!! How could they not be??? They have you as their mom :)
Holly 12/04/2007
We would like to do two (we have four children and two Compassion children that are the oldest two ages). So we would like to do a boy or girl that are 4 1/2 and 15 months.
We will mail the check to you all. What a lovely idea, Britt!
We have a photo on our blog of our family or I could send one. Also, I'll get Tabor andf Kylie to color a picture.
Thanks for the opportunity! Wish I could send enough for a thousand more!
Love,
Holly
Bev,
This post brought me to tears. I have just alid my boys down to bed and I pray every night that they will be God's mighty warriors and lead the way to bring others to God.
What a wonderful family you have. I will definitely sponsor a child. I will send the money to the address that Britt provided. I would love to sponsor a little girl since I have 2 boys and we also have our World Vision boys I need to have a girl -hehe.
The age does not matter to me and you have persmission to use any photo from my blog. I will have the boys do a picture and send it with the check.
God bless you and your sweet family!!
Kim
Sharon Brumfield 12/04/2007
Bev this is great. This is exactly what we were looking for.
I want to help. Send me your paypal info. I have done it one other time but it has been awhile.
It would be cool to do a girlaround the age of ten. My daughter is 10 and it would be nice to have her introduced to this girl and then let her pray for her.
On the tenth of this month we will put up our final post. I want to make sure you link to us. I can take care of this for you. Remind me if I forget. I know there are many people out there who are doing stuff for others. We wanted to do this to help in His name but also for those who don't know what to do it would give them some ideas.
Thank you for sharing this.
Please don't forget to send me your info. Feel free to grab a picture off my blog. Or you can grab a picture of Julia from the X-Mas post.
Thanks girl!
Fran 12/04/2007
"Oh Jesus! I sit here with such tears in my eyes for Bev, her unbelievable family who is after your world to bring people closer to you, and I have the biggest lump in my throat right now. I pray for your blessings to be upon these precious children in Thailand and may they come to know their Jesus. Lord, I pray for this process to be smooth as silk and bring you complete honor and glory. Bless Bev and her entire family through this most generous yet normal gift we should do. We love you Bev. I love you Jesus.
Amen!"
COUNT ME IN SISTER!! I want 3 boys in honor of my 3 precious boys here with me at home. We do not care what their ages are. We will pray for them every day beginning NOW! I'll mail you the check on Wednesday. I CANNOT wait Bev.
Bless you sweet friend. Your family is being the hands and feet of Christ. Philipians 2:4 are the Brandons in action.
HUGS and HUGS~
Kristin 12/05/2007
Count us in, too! What a great idea Britt. I love the idea of having a picture and a name that we can pray for and continue to pray for. We will do 3 children. A boy around 8, a girl around 7, and a girl around 3 if possible. I have a paypay account, so I can pay that way if you send me the info. How fun...I'm so excited. Oh, and you can use a picture off my blog. I'm going to post a new family picture soon that we took for Christmas cards.
Thanks ~ Kristin
Kristin 12/05/2007
O.K. so I just hate typos, and I don't want to delete my comment, so I will just say that I have a paypal account, not a "paypay" account. (although that is kind-of what it is...I use it to "paypay' for this and "paypay" for that!) I feel better now that I've said that!
Susan 12/05/2007
You people are killing me! I thought today I would be NON-WEEPY. But NO! I come here and I'm crying all over my desk.
We are SO in! Sign us up for three, please. We have two boys, ages 17 & 11 and one girl aged 16 if you want to match up with that...if not...we will pray for them no matter! And yes...grab some photos off my blog...there are some of The Man and I and there are TONS of pics of The Three Darlings. Love you for doing this and how INCREDIBLE is that boy of yours? Give him a big hug from me, please.
Blessings...Susan
Send me your paypal info...I have a paypal account (or paypay as Kristin likes to say...so cracked me up!).
Hugs.
Lindsee Lou 12/05/2007
This is just the most precious thing ever. I could barely wait to get to the bottom of this post so I could comment!
YES, count me in!
1) I will send a payment by mail.
2) I would love to have a girl, if possible. And, I was gonna pick a younger one as in age 7, but I saw there was a 20 year old. So, my question is, if there is a 22 year old (because that's my age) than I'll take her, but if not, I'll stick with the 7 year old (cause that's my favorite number!)
3) Yes, you are more than welcome to print a picture off of my blog. I don't care which one. But, if you need me to send you one, just let me know.
4) I can't remember the next step.
I am so excited! I'm gonna link this. Until then, just let me know what else I can do for this precious cherub!!
Lindsee
UPDATE 12/05/07:
After basketball practice tonight, Britt checked his post and shouted:
I got 23 orphans covered
101 TO GO - with a big smile!
Yes, Brookie - your Dad & I
still think Britt is hilarious!
Britt's quote of the night was:
"I love being a matchmaker."
And we both burst into song...
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
make me a match
Find me a find
catch me a catch...
to which the hubby replied from
the other room---
"you guys are flat"
Well, I wouldn't know---
we're just having FUN...
a mom and a boy having fun
helping some orphans on the other side of the world.
Heather 12/06/2007
I will send you $$ by paypal. I also put a link on my blog! Just put ours toward whoever has the most need.
jen 12/06/2007
Last night my childrens choir sang "Go Light Your World" during practice and I just about broke down bawling. It made me think of ya'll and the work you're doing for the kids in China. God is using your family in a unique way and it is a HUGE blessing to be a part of it. Our performance is on the 16th, and I think now it just might have a bit more meaning to it for me.
Anonymous 12/06/2007
Britt,
I found out about your idea through Heather Hendrick's blog and I am so excited to get to be a part of it!
I would love to support and pray for 2 kids. Any age and gender. I will mail the money tomorrow morning. Is cash ok?
Also, I don't have a blog, but can I email you a picture of my family or include one with the money in the mail?
Thanks!
We would love to sponsor two children ages 1 and 2 if they are that young. If not, then how about 6 and 7. We will pay through Paypal.
We have twins (who are just now 10 months old), and we would love to be able to share with them when they are a little older how they helped orphans way across the globe learn about Christ, the true meaning of Christmas.
Please, use any picture from our blog (hesliptwins.blogspot.com). Our profile picture has everyone, but if you want to use just the twins, that is fine.
God Bless and thank you for your service!
Hi Beverly! Just wanted to let you know that my 5th graders are excited about doing something for the House of Blessing! We are busy making embroidery friendship bracelets (some are better than others! ha!) I have mounds of bracelets on my desk - we will have at least 123. Kind of cool since I have 41 students at an elementary school - they can each make 3.
Don't know if you remember, but we are studying weather and they are doing "disaster" projects. One of the disasters they have chosen is a tsunami in Thailand. So this is perfect! I wanted them to not only study the facts about weather, but also think about how they are able to help. I have the pictures on the wall that you and Britt gave me.
Thanks for helping me make my students aware of another people group and their needs.
I'll bring you what we have on Sunday.
Blessings,
Sue
Jane 12/13/2007
Bev,
I would be honored to sponsor 2 children. What a fabulous project. I will leave it up to you to make the match. Katie thought a child between 5-8 and John wants to make sure we don't leave out the older kids, so maybe an older boy. But please, don't stress, do what works the best for the kids. I signed up for Pay pal and will give that a try. If that doesn't work I'll mail a check.
I sent you a lengthy email last night but it bounced back to me so I'll try again. Just seeing Brooke in the apt with the tree made my heart strings twing with longing and happy memories.
Jane
This brings the Christmas project to an end. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing God to use you to touch 123 orphans on the other side of the world. Unbelievable!
